Disk Drill

This is a data recovery app, recently due to power failure one of my external harddrive stopped showing one of my backup folders which contained all the backups of my devices. Loosing it would have been a big crisis. While searching for a data recovery tool, I found Disk Drill app for Mac. I Installed it and it started showing all the deleted data which I could recover, from the day one of the drive. If you are in that kind of situation, try it once it will just blow your mind.

It’s available both for Windows and Mac on their website.

Article I’m pondering on – The Evolution of Anxiety: Why We Worry and What to Do About It – This is an interesting article on how human brain has evolved from being in an ‘immediate return environment’ to a ‘delayed return environment’. That caused an evolution of anxiety as well. But this article also provides solution to this problem and how to reduce that anxiety.

Book I’m re-listening  —

The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman – I’m listening to this book for the second time on Audible. It’s one of the very good fiction books I have ever read, apart from the story and characters, Neil Gaiman who has written this book has also narrated this book in his own voice, does a mind-blowing job. He takes you to a completely different world the of the dead, the ghouls and the witches which is not actually spooky. If you want to get away from your world and problems for sometime, listen to this book while driving car or commuting to work, this book will be worth you time.

What am I listening –

Federico Aubele – Maria Jose – I’m listening to this old Spanish album of Federico Aubele. It’s great to write on this music. It’s groovy and it can put you in a rhythm. Great listen.

Article I found interesting  —

How Tim Ferriss Survived Suicidal Depression and His Tools for Warding Off the Darkness – This article is a story of one of my favorite writers where he tells about his story of dark days when he almost committed suicide and how an incident helped him out to get out of that zone and the tools he used to stay away from that zone.

An intimate story, I think every person should read who is going through difficult times. It teaches a great lesson. To quote Tim in a very powerful sentence – “Killing yourself is like taking your pain, multiplying it by 10, and giving it to the ones who love you.”

Saturday-Pentacle – Week 24 – 2018

Memory Box!

She just entered in the big white room.

It was lit like cool day light. White! But one could tell where the walls met in this white room.

She was standing in the center of the floor. She closed her eyes.

The room drifted into darkness, it wasn’t white anymore.

After a few minutes she gasped and took a deep breathe while opening her eyes. hhhhhhh!

She had experienced the same kind of feeling before, while getting up from sleep after a bad dream in the middle of the night in the old house of her Grandpa in childhood.

She used to visit them in the summer vacations. But she was always scared of the nights, because she couldn’t sleep easy anywhere apart from her own bed at her parents house. When the night came she would kiss her granny good night and go to the bed. She was given the left most corner bed of the big bedroom of her grandpa and granny. She always pretended to be the brave kid, but there was one thing she was afraid of. Her dreams in the night, when she was sleeping in a new bed.

It was that same feeling now, when she opened her eyes in this white room which now was pitch black.

Even though her eyes started adjusting to the darkness, but there was nothing she could see. Because there was nothing in the room but the walls. She just turned around and saw if she could go back, but the door from where she entered wasn’t there any more. Or may be she couldn’t see it in the darkness.

Her heart was beating fast and her breathe was faster.

She was starting to regret the decision of entering this room.

Exactly on this moment the room was filled with strange light, she couldn’t understand.

She thought probably the light is coming back. But No. It was a light coming from the room walls. A light you could see on a drive-in theatre’s projected screen where a movie casts through this projection. It was very real.

She started to gather her conscious and see that it was like an imagery playing over the room walls. It was her!

It was her in those images, sitting on a tree branch very high that she could look over this dreamy forest. She doesn’t feel good on heights, then what she was doing on this tree, sitting so high. Then she hears a fade growl and she looks down. There is a pride of lions sitting on the bottom of the tree! The lioness was growling slowly. As she sees the lions, she starts breathing so fast that she can’t hear her heartbeat anymore.

haaaa! haaaaaa! haaaaaaa! haaaaaaaaaaaa!

Suddenly the branch she was sitting, creaks and then breaks! She starts falling and screams!

That’s when she wakes up gasping, like she used to in her granny’s bedroom. hhhhhhhh!

What? how is that possible, she thinks puzzled. This was my dream, how can I see it now on this room walls.

What is this room? She thought!

Even before she could understand, the room was black again.

Hello! Somebody please get me out of here! She said.

But there seemed to be no one hearing her.

After struggling with the overwhelming thoughts of macabre. She was coming back to her wits.

Then again the room starts shimmering with the light.

It was another one!

She was now watching it more carefully.

She was at the playing area in the backyard of her school. Then one of her friends calls her out and says “Your mom is here and she is calling you, go inside she is upstairs.” It was late evening and she enters the school building again, it’s dark inside with not even a single light. She hears a screeching and before she can understand a thing, a cloud of bats fly over from her head and through the school door. She is terrified and her legs are shaking. She can’t move. Her mom calls from upstairs “Shiva, come up beta!”. But she is just crying silently. From a playful mood suddenly turned into a terrified statue.

Tears roll down her eyes as the room turns dark again.

She pinches herself to see if it is real. With a sweet pain in her arm she knows, it is real.

“What is this place?” She is not thinking it anymore, she is shouting. “What is this place!”

But after some struggle with her thoughts, she calms down again.

Ready for the next one!

Aide-mémoire!⠀ .⠀ I came out of that wooden door and it shut back on its own behind my back. She was sitting on the couch right in front. Her face was a little red, I couldn't understand. As soon as I approached her, I saw tears rolling down her eyes!⠀ .⠀ She didn't even know I had come out until I sat right next to her on the left. She quietly said in her Israeli accent. "Hey….you are back."⠀ .⠀ I couldn't say a word, I was presumably sad. But seeing her jotting down something in her handmade diary, which she bought somewhere from middle India while her explorations, I said, "What are you writing?"⠀ .⠀ "I'm in love. So I'm writing about it before the moment passes by." She replied while struggling to smile.⠀ .⠀ I smiled back even though I too was feeling sadness.⠀ .⠀ I waited another few minutes, for her to finish. Then I asked, "May I see it?"⠀ .⠀ She said, "No, I can't let you see, it's personal. It's between me and Mama India."⠀ .⠀ I giggled, listening to her kiddish response. But I respected her decision of not showing me the mémoire.⠀ .⠀ Then she laughed through her tears while spilling a few of 'em (tears) on my face when she shook her face with laughter, and said, "Oh! my dear, I wrote about this entire journey I took through India and people I met, like you! It's really difficult for me to think about the fact that I'm leaving in a few hours. I love India and every time I come back I experience something new through which I find a new piece of my soul. That's what makes me keep coming back."⠀ .⠀ "Will you come back again next time?" I asked.⠀ .⠀ "Of course, I will. To touch the surface of this great country, To touch the water of the mother Ganges! To meet you!! I pretty sure will come back!" She replied smiling while still having her eyes wet.⠀ .⠀ She moved forward teary eyed and we hugged each other.⠀ .⠀ "Is she an old Indian soul, who crave for her motherland while being in the body of an Israeli woman?" I though while we hugged.⠀ .⠀ After hugging I looked into her eyes and I had the answer.⠀ .⠀ #story⠀ #israel⠀ #miti⠀ #woodendoor⠀ #contemplation⠀ #love⠀ #tears⠀ #sadness⠀ #hapiness

Calm! . I couldn't take it any more. . I saw him doing it again. He was completely drunk. Right side of his pant was dripping black water. Again his feet must have went into the drain in front of the street. He seemed weaker, he was home after 3 days. . He came inside and started blabbering shit. . Maa yelled at her, "Why don't you just die? At least we will be at peace. You just need your bottle and nothing else." . He blabbered at her and started shouting, abusing and calling names. . I was watching from inside the small room when he started slapping her relentlessly. She started crying slowly. But he didn't stop. Then she was almost shouting while she was beating her bad. . I couldn't take it any more and I took my cricket bat along. I didn't warn him. I just attacked him on his feet with my bat. He couldn't understand what was going on because of the influence. But I kept on going. I hit him hard. He fell on his knees. Then I striked one massive blow to his back. He started crying and shouting. He joined his hands and started begging me to stop. But I didn't stop. I kept on hammering him on his back. He was now lying on his stomach. Blood was dripping from many spots from his back, he blacked out. I was about to go for his head for the final fatal shot. Maa saw my eyes, she knew I am going to kill him, so she yelled at me. Nooo! She stormed in between my bat and him. I realized it almost when I was about to strike, I stopped the bat and swang it the other way. She started crying and repeated, No! No! No! . I didn't say anything and stopped. . I went inside, threw the blood stained bat in corner, I thew my and mom's clothes in a bag telling her that we are leaving. She didn't say anything, so I took her silence as acceptance. She had enough of this violence. I grabbed her hand and left from the house. Neighbors were all right in front. Many shouting what happened? But I didn't say a word neither did Maa. . We left the town that night and came to the city. . . Now I come here to dip in the sea almost every morning. All the worries, all the thoughts fade away when I listen to these waves. . . . . #fiction #story #violence #kid #maa #father #writing #sea #waves

Person I ‘m fascinated with  —

Elon Musk – He is the founder of some of the revolutionary companies like SpaceX, Tesla, Neuralink and The boring company. Before that, he was one of the founders of PayPal which eBay acquired and gave him a wealth of US$ 165 Millions. Right now Elon’s net worth is US$20.2 billion (source).

He is like real life Iron Man. Has the mind of an engineer and a problem solver. I’m just fascinated with how he is executing all of his plans. Mainly it is because he has the money now and a bunch of teams working for him round the clock but still as an individual how much he is accomplishing is almost superhuman.

A new gadget in my wishlist —

A gadget to make your dumb airconditioner smart – I’m fascinated with all things automation, so while doing research on new (home) automation products. I stumbled upon this gadget which can connect your old split or window ac (basically any ac with an infrared remote) with your wifi and hence you can control it from anywhere. You can also do geofencing with it. So that if you come in the radius of certain meters of your house it automatically can turn on the AC and vice versa.

Quote I’m pondering on lately –
